Profile

Warwick maintains a broad criminal and civil practice and accepts instructions in all areas of work.  He joined Chambers upon completion of his pupillage with Mr Martin Hui SC, Mr Franco Kuan, Mr Martin Ho and Mr Jonathan Ah-weng, and extended pupillage with Ms Maggie Wong SC and Mr Derek Chan SC. 

 

Warwick has experience in white collar crimes, fraud and money laundering cases, traffic offences, drug-related offences, violence offences, sexual offences and market misconduct matters.  He has been involved in trials in the High Court, the District Court and the Magistrates’ Courts, and has worked on various criminal appeal cases.  

 

His civil practice has an emphasis on commercial and company work.  During limited practice, Warwick represented a NASDAQ-listed company, its subsidiaries and its former director in resisting an application for continuation of an injunction order as a co-counsel, and successfully obtained security for costs as a sole advocate in the High Court.  

 

Warwick is a former solicitor.  He graduated from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and was the captain of HKU Cantonese Debate Team.

  • 香港特別行政區  姚樹穩 (D2) 及其他人 (DCCC 604/2021)  Acts for D2 charged with offering an advantage to an agent and conspiracy to falsify accounts in a severance application and a trial fixed for 40 days (ongoing) (led by Mr Martin Hui SC)

 

  • 香港特別行政區  江浩智 (D3) 及其他人 [2024] HKDC 491 & [2024] HKDC 270 – Acted for D3 charged with conspiracy to defraud and money laundering in a 10-day trial (with Mr Jonathan Ah-weng) 

 

  • HKSAR v CHEN Boliang (ESCC 806/2020) – Acted for D charged with access to a computer with criminal or dishonest intent and money laundering in cryptocurrency context (with Ms Vivian Wong)

 

 

COMMERCIAL / COMPANY

 

  • Real Estate and Finance Fund (in liq) & Anor v TROOPS Inc & Ors [2023] HKCFI 1580 – Acted for a NASDAQ listed company, its subsidiaries and its former director in a dispute concerning an alleged fraudulent conspiracy:

    • Successfully obtained security for costs against Ps (sole advocate)

    • Resisted an application for continuation of worldwide and Mareva injunctions during a 4-day hearing and applied for the discharge of the injunction order and ancillary disclosure orders (with Mr Martin Ho) 


  • Cheung Sau Mei & Ors v One Heritage Trust Limited (HCA 986/2024) – Acted for 23 Plaintiffs who have allegedly fallen victims to an investment scam and successfully obtained a Mareva injunction and ancillary disclosure orders against D and two banks (with Mr Tony Ko) 

 

  • China Medical Technologies, Inc. (in liq) & Ors v Chong Wing Hip (D5) & Ors (HCA 3391/2016 & HCA 1417/2013) – Acted for D5 in a case management conference regarding a dispute over an alleged conspiracy to carry out a theft against the Plaintiff companies (sole advocate) 

 

  • Re Xiang Fa International Investment (Groups) Limited (HCCW 361/2023) – Acted for the Petitioner in obtaining leave to adduce expert evidence concerning a winding-up petition on, inter alia, just and equitable ground (sole advocate) 

 

  • ZhenJiang Hi-Way IMP-EXP Co., LTD. v 嚴斌 & Ors (HCMP 1770/2019) – Acted for the Plaintiff company defrauded by Ds and successfully obtained a discovery order against two banks to obtain information for tracing and following the monies deposited into Ds’ accounts (sole advocate)

 

  • Yung Man Yee v HK Yuhao Port Machinery Equipment Ltd & Ors (HCA 1511/2023) – Acted for the Plaintiff who was a victim to a fraud perpetrated by seven Ds and successfully obtained a discovery order against all Ds to facilitate the tracing exercise (sole advocate)

  • The Incorporated Owners of Fook Cheong Building v Goodray Development Limited (D1) and Chong To Chai (D2) (HCMP 260/2023) – Acts for D1 and D2 in the context of an alleged breach of court orders and undertaking regarding right of access to specific areas of a building in a trial fixed for 5 days (part-heard) (with Mr Martin Ho)

  • Kerryford Holdings Limited & Ors v Wilson Development Company Limited & Ors (LDCS 8000/2022) – Acted for a HK private limited company in a compulsory sale of lot action and successfully resisted an application for unless order relating to filing of expert evidence with costs awarded (sole advocate)
